This week at the Finding, June 25th, we are blessed to have Scott Holmquist come and speak during our multi-month series entitled “Jobs: Stories from Christians who ‘Got There,’” which is intended to be a powerfully prismatic view into the practicality of what it takes to live a life following Jesus while ’succeeding‘ in any number of careers in this crazy city of LA.

Keep in mind that this week The Finding Dinner is scheduled on Friday June 27^th at The Farmer’s Market!

As I have been out of town for most of the month (I’m back now and will see you all on Wednesday!), we will not be having a specific event this month, but stayed tuned for information about events coming up in the month of July. A reminder that this upcoming Saturday, June 21st is our monthly service trip to the Union Rescue Mission. For those that don’t know, TheUnionRescue Mission is the nation’s largest homeless shelter, housing upwards of 900 people per night. This Saturday we’ll have the chance to prepare and serve dinner as well as pray for the homeless–if you’ve ever wanted to come join us to serve dinner to the homeless downtown, now is the time!

We are going to be meeting at 3:15 PM in the Bel Air Pres lower parking lot (across Mulholland, south of the Church campus) to carpool over together, finishing up by 8:00 PM. It really is an amazing experience and a great way to get some service and fellowship in. I really cannot stress enough that we need a good number of people to come along to be able to function well at dinner–we end up serving a lot of people!

Please e-mail me back if you are interested in coming or have further questions. Planning goes much smoother if I can get a decent count before we meet up on Saturday. It gives me a chance to make sure everyone has the proper directions–which I have included as an attachment if you want meet us there. If you do plan on meeting us there, expect to arrive at the rescue mission between 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM (there is a parking garage underneath).

This week there is no Finding on this Wednesday night (6/4/08), because we will meet on Tuesday June 3rd at 8:00pm for the Refinery, a night of worship and praise with all of the Young Adults Ministries at Bel Air Pres (held in the Main Sanctuary). Next week stay tuned for another speaker coming to give a talk in our multi-month series entitled “Jobs: Stories from Christians who ‘Got There,’” which is intended to be a powerfully prismatic view into the practicality of what it takes to live a life following Jesus while succeeding in any number of careers in this crazy city of LA.
